In ceramic inkjet printing, a printhead that suddenly stops firing can be frustrating. While clogging is a common cause, there are other often-overlooked reasons worth checking:
1. Negative Pressure Issues
Printheads rely on stable negative pressure to function properly. If the setting is incorrect or the system is leaking air, it can lead to inconsistent ink supply and nozzle dropout.
2. Blocked Filters or Dampers
Old or clogged filters and dampers restrict ink flow. Even if the printhead is fine, blocked components upstream can prevent ink from reaching the nozzles.
3. Incorrect Ink Viscosity
Each printhead model has its own requirements for ink viscosity. If the ink is too thick, too thin, or affected by temperature changes, it may fail to jet properly.
When facing printhead firing issues, it’s important to check not only the printhead itself, but the entire ink delivery system.
